Born and raised in the Taishan County of Guangdong Province of China, he started learning the craft during his adolescence from his father Lap Keung Wong (黃立強) who was also a master goldsmith and jeweler during his prime in China and Indonesia during the first half of the 20th Century. During his apprenticeship, he learned the classical arts and technical methods of being a bench jeweler and goldsmith. At the age of 16, Charlie migrated to Hong Kong to work as a jeweler at a major jewelry factory. He eventually emigrated to the United States with his family and began working as a skilled stonesetter for one of the largest casting companies in New York. After co-founding Popular Jewelry with his wife A$AP Eva in 1988, he soon started his own company Lucky Diamond with his wife as co-founder. Charlie specializes in diamond setting and hand forged jewelry. With his skills, he has been creating classic and timeless jewelry pieces for the Chinatown, NY neighborhood for over 25 years under the Lucky Diamond brand.
